Collegiate
Challenge
Habitat for Humanity's Collegiate
Challenge is a US-based program that organizes group work-trips
for college and high school students during academic breaks. While
summer, fall, and winter break trips are available, the primary
focus of the program is Spring Break; last year roughly 9000 students
participated over their Spring Break and 1100 more took part in
trips during the rest of the year, according to Habitat for Humanity
International.
PolyHabitat has been going on Collegiate Challenge spring break trips since 2002, providing Cal Poly students with the opportunity to help out an awesome organization, get to know new friends, and see different parts of the US.
In order to participate in PolyHabitat's Collegiate Challenge,
you must be an active member with paid dues. Participants
are chosen on a first come, first serve basis. Download a membership
application (pdf) and turn it in to an officer
as soon as possible!.
Check out the picture galleries of PolyHabitat's most recent Collegiate
Challenge trips*:
In 2006 we traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico and in 2007 we headed back to Kauai, Hawaii for an awesome time!
(*sorry about not updating it with the most recent trips, we are in need of a webmaster who knows how to do the fancier layouts).
